Secure document storage

Keep your original documents safe and traceable.

£30 a year including VAT. One person or a couple.

One clear annual fee.

Our secure document storage service costs £30 a year including VAT for a single person or couple. The package covers signed original wills, registered lasting powers of attorney and associated estate-planning documents. Payment is annually in advance by Direct Debit.

Standard retrieval and return are included at no additional charge. We verify identity and authority before releasing original documents to you or an authorised representative. After a death, we check the relevant evidence and the authority of the person requesting the will.

A record your executors can trace.

All wills stored with CCM have their location logged with the National Will Register. This records where the will is held; it does not publish its contents. Tell your executors about the storage arrangements and keep our contact details with your estate information.

If your contact details change, tell us promptly, including changes to your postal or email address. If a will is replaced or storage ends, we update the location record as appropriate. Registration helps with tracing a will; it does not determine whether the will is legally valid.

Direct Debit and unpaid fees.

If a payment fails, we contact you to arrange payment and give 30 days’ written notice before ending storage for non-payment. If the fee remains unpaid, your documents will be returned by tracked delivery to your last known postal address. You are responsible for keeping that address up to date.

We do not destroy original wills or LPAs because a storage payment is missed. If we know an address is no longer valid, or delivery is returned, we will take reasonable steps to contact you and arrange safe collection or delivery. Where we learn of a death or loss of capacity, we establish appropriate authority before releasing documents.

Support after a death.

CCM specialises in document storage and estate administration. Depending on the estate, we can provide administration support directly or arrange specialist assistance. We explain who will carry out the work, the scope and the fees before instructions are accepted.

Storage does not appoint CCM as executor or require your executors to use our administration service. Estate administration, tax returns and any specialist legal work are separate from the annual storage charge. Contact the CCM team to discuss storage or support after a death.
