Service information

Terms of service

Clear terms for your estate-planning service.

1. Your service provider.

CCM Estate Planning is a trading name of Carter Collins & Myer Ltd, Chichester House, 2 Chichester Street, Rochdale OL16 2AX. Telephone 01706 225 617; email enquiries@uk-ccm.com. Our service concerns England and Wales.

CCM takes your instructions, records your wishes, explains the options within the agreed scope and remains your main point of contact. Specialist drafting is carried out by Trust Wills & Probate Limited trading as WillPack. Our engagement letter will confirm the services, parties and responsibilities for your matter.

2. Scope, fees and instructions.

An initial consultation is free. Starting fees including VAT are £149 for a single will, £249 for mirror wills and £120 for each LPA. Trusts, complex instructions and separate tax, business succession or estate administration work are quoted separately. We provide written confirmation of the work, total price, payment arrangements and any exclusions before you commit.

The standard OPG registration fee is £92 per LPA, additional to our preparation fee, unless you qualify for a reduction or exemption. We identify other agreed third-party charges separately. No additional paid work is undertaken without your agreement.

Please provide complete, accurate information and tell us promptly about changes. We confirm our understanding of your instructions for review. You should check all drafts and raise questions before approval. Where a matter requires advice outside the agreed scope, we explain the need and agree how to proceed.

3. Drafts, completion and signing.

Our normal first-draft timescale is 14 business days from receiving complete instructions. We agree any urgent arrangements separately. Review, amendments, finalisation and signing require additional time. LPA registration usually takes 8 to 10 weeks after submission if there are no mistakes.

If we cannot meet an agreed delivery time, we explain the reason and revised timetable and discuss your options, including cancellation and any refund due. We do not promise completion by an urgent date unless expressly agreed.

We explain signing and witnessing requirements. Supervised signing can be discussed; any charge is confirmed in advance. Where you arrange signing yourself, we offer a check, as far as practical, without an additional fee. A document must be properly signed and witnessed, and an LPA registered, before it can fulfil its intended purpose.

4. Cancellation and refunds.

You may cancel within 14 calendar days after the service agreement is made. Tell us by a clear statement by email, letter or telephone. A cancellation form can be used but is not compulsory. We provide your cancellation information with the engagement documents.

We will not begin during that period unless you expressly ask us to. If you ask us to start and then cancel within the period, we may charge a reasonable amount proportionate to the service supplied up to cancellation, as explained before you authorise the early start. If no work has started, we refund payments for the cancelled service.

For a service to be completed during the cancellation period, we obtain your express consent and acknowledgement of the effect on your cancellation right. After the period, charges on cancellation reflect work properly completed and disclosed commitments, not an automatic forfeiture of the whole fee. Statutory rights remain unaffected.

To cancel, send: “I wish to cancel my agreement for [service], agreed on [date]. My name is [name] and my address is [address].” Send to enquiries@uk-ccm.com or the Rochdale address above. Add the date and, if sent on paper, your signature.

5. Storage and access.

Optional storage is £30 a year including VAT for one person or a couple, covering wills, registered LPAs and associated estate-planning documents. It is paid annually in advance by Direct Debit. Standard retrieval and return are included, subject to identity and authority checks. You may end future renewals by contacting us. We confirm the end date and return arrangements.

We log the location of stored wills with the National Will Register. Keep your contact details current. If fees remain unpaid, we give 30 days’ written notice before ending storage and returning documents by tracked delivery to your last known address. We take reasonable steps to arrange safe return where we know the address is invalid or delivery fails. Original documents are not destroyed for non-payment.

Storage does not include will updates, tax advice or estate administration, and does not require appointment of CCM after a death. Any future annual price change will be notified before renewal so you can decide whether to continue.

6. Standards, insurance and responsibility.

Rob Newman is a full member of the Society of Will Writers. Andrew Barker and Fiona Heyes work under his membership arrangement, and CCM Estate Planning is registered with SWW. We follow its Code of Practice, available on request or from the Society’s website.

Specialist drafting is supported by WillPack’s professional indemnity insurance arrangements, subject to the applicable policy and partner agreement. Your engagement documents explain the responsibilities and insurance arrangements for the services you instruct.

We carry out the agreed service with reasonable care and skill. Using a drafting provider does not remove your rights against CCM for its own service. Nothing in these terms excludes liability where it cannot lawfully be excluded, or restricts your statutory consumer rights.

7. Privacy and complaints.

Our privacy notice explains the use of information, specialist drafting and storage records. Please discuss any confidentiality or communication concerns before supplying sensitive information.

Complaints should be addressed to James Green at james.green@uk-ccm.com or our Rochdale office. The complaints procedure explains response times and referral to SWW. The service is governed by the law of England and Wales, without limiting any mandatory rights you have as a consumer.

Our professional standards: Society of Will Writers Code of Practice. Terms updated 22 October 2026.
